Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos, and Yo-Yo Ma announce the release of the fourth album in their Beethoven for Three series, featuring Symphony No. 1 (Op. 21) as well as the piano trios "Gassenhauer" (Op. 11) and "Ghost" (Op. 70, No. 1), three works spanning over a decade of the composer's output. From the enthusiastic "Gassenhauer" trio to the symphony that first revealed Beethoven's revolutionary voice, here carefully reinterpreted for piano, violin, and cello by Shai Wosner, to the unique "Ghost" trio, this recording marks a new step in the musical journey of three friends through the wonders of an extraordinary composer. Beethoven for Three: Symphony No. 1 and Piano Trios Nos. 4 & 5 will be released on August 22, 2025.
