Tomboy marked the beginning of the professional relationship between Noah Lennox and Pete Kember aka Sonic Boom, who mixed the album and has since become a frequent collaborator. Tomboy was voted best album of the year by Rolling Stone, Complex, Gorilla vs Bear, Aquarium Drunkard, among others, and allowed Panda Bear to make his television debut (solo) performing "You Can Count On Me" on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon alongside Pete Kember.
