Continuing from In a Silent Way (1969), Miles Davis pursued his electric revolution, assisted by the generals revealed notably by the previous album: Dave Holland, John McLaughlin, Bennie Maupin, and Joe Zawinul. A whirlwind of jazz-rock with a funk flavor, Bitches Brew once again revolutionized the world of jazz by giving it a superior dimension, an escape to other horizons, opening a breach into which the greatest artists plunged. The album, ranked 95th by Rolling Stone magazine among the 500 greatest albums of all time, won the Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album in 1970, and was certified platinum in 2003.
