LUKA FAULISI - Vivaldi: The Four Seasons | CD

"Vivaldi" is an outstanding new recording of Vivaldi's much-loved "Four Seasons" by young Italian-Serbian-French violinist Luka Faulisi, who takes on the work with brilliant, youthful energy. In addition, Luka Faulisi has selected three corresponding romantic pieces, placed between Vivaldi's concertos to offer a change of perspective - the traditional Catalan "Cant dels Ocels", Lili Boulanger's "Nocturne", and Tchaikovsky's "Autumn Song". For this album, Luka Faulisi collaborated with the excellent Polish Baroque ensemble (oh!) Orkiestra led by concertmaster and ensemble leader Martyna Pastuzka, presenting a highly personal interpretation of Vivaldi's pioneering masterpiece. The combination of Faulisi's romantic sound, trained in the French impressionist repertoire, and the energetic and vigorous interpretation of the ensemble allows this well-known work to shine in a new light. Luka Faulisi has been described by the great Pinchas Zukerman as a violinist "with a million-dollar sound". He has seen a meteoric rise since signing with Sony Classical in 2022, at the age of 20, after studying at the Maastricht Conservatory with Boris Belkin. He recently received a full scholarship from the Royal Academy of Music in London to pursue the Advanced Diploma in Performance course with Robin Wilson.
