Hors-Saison: Francis Cabrel's 9th studio album, originally released in 1999. Every 5 years, a new album: Sarbacane in 1989, Samedi soir sur la terre in 1994, Hors-saison in 1999. No doubt he needs to retreat with his family to southwestern France to recharge his batteries. Whatever the reason, the result always lives up to expectations, and sales defy logic. Each of the last three albums has sold over a million copies! While Cabrel usually writes both lyrics and music, he makes an exception here by adapting an Otis Redding track ("Depuis toujours"). For the rest – original songs – he alternates between reasoned critique of our society and modest reflections on human relationships. "Le monde est sourd," "Presque rien," "Le Reste du temps" are added to his list of successes. As for the title track "Hors-saison," despite its theme being very similar to Bardot's "La Madrague" ("on the abandoned beach..."), it is undoubtedly the most beautiful on the album. It's no surprise that, once again, over 2 million fans acclaimed the album, making it the best-selling record of 1999.
