"Women" by celebrated violinist and social media star Esther Abrami showcases the exceptional talent of 14 remarkable female composers across history and a variety of genres, ranging from newly composed works to rediscovered masterpieces. The album features Oscar winners such as Rachel Portman and Anne Dudley, as well as new arrangements by historical female composers such as Pauline Viardot, Chiquinha Gonzaga, Teresa Carreño, and Ethel Smyth. "Women" also includes "Transmission," an original composition by Esther Abrami, who arranged several pieces on the album. At the heart of the album is the world premiere recording of Ina Boyle's Violin Concerto, a spectacular composition from the late Romantic period. "Women" brings together an extraordinary ensemble of collaborators, including the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductor Irene Delgado-Jiménez, pianist Kim Barbier, harpist Lavinia Meijer, and the Esther Abrami Quintet. Esther Abrami carefully selected each piece for "Women" not only for its musical brilliance but also for the emotional connection it represents for her, shining a light on the often-overlooked voices of women in classical music. Throughout her career, Esther Abrami has been dedicated to celebrating and amplifying the voices of female composers. From her popular podcast "Women in Classical," where she interviews influential female musicians, composers, and women working in classical music, to her EP "Spotlight," dedicated to female composers, Abrami continues her mission to highlight and value the contributions of women to classical music. With her new album "Women," she takes another step towards breaking down barriers and redefining the landscape of the genre.
