For Requin Chagrin, a song is a quest, and any means is good to achieve it. With her sole will but also the support of her entourage, from Nicola Sirkis, who signed her to his label KMS, to Chab (Daft Punk, AIR, Sebastian) for mastering. Sound engineer Ash Workman (Christine \u0026amp; The Queen, Metronomy, Veronica Falls) also distinguished himself, from his English town of Margate, by strengthening a sound compression that nevertheless avoided any aggressiveness: Marion's renewed energy was captured throughout his work on the ten tracks of BYE BYE BABY.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eStarted shortly before lockdown, and completed during a recording session at the prestigious Brussels ICP studios in late summer 2020, BYE BYE BABY reflects the inner world of an artist who wants to express who she is while also depicting the world around her. She abandoned her cassette recorder for a tape recorder (a Fostex A8 LR), a method that influenced the composition of the tracks and offered as many constraints as possibilities. She remains influenced by Beach House, Molly Nilsson, Exploded View, Pale Saints, The Proper Ornaments, Cigarettes After Sex, John Maus, the label Italians Do It Better, vintage synth and effects pedal demos, Kate Bush, and the Cocteau Twins, to whom she remains religiously faithful.\u003cbr\u003eFor her second album, Requin Chagrin, aka Marion Brunetto, singer, songwriter, composer, and musician, found something better than a port: a \"Sémaphore.\"\u003cbr\u003eThe first album to be released on KMS Disques, Nicola Sirkis's label within Sony Music, of which Requin Chagrin is the first signing, \"Sémaphore\" is somewhere in the lineage of the band Indochine but especially in direct line with their common parents, whether in New-Wave, Yé-Yé, English Noisy Pop, or a summer song that would be obscured by clouds. \"Her voice, her universe, the sound of the band... I loved everything about Requin Chagrin,\" explains Nicola. It was after seventeen opening acts for Indochine between February and May 2018 that Marion fully composed and recorded the 10 songs on \"Sémaphore.\"\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFour years after a first album soberly titled \"Requin Chagrin,\" played, self-produced, and released independently, Marion has grown considerably. She plays almost all the instruments on her compositions.
